Abstract
Diversos trabalhos academicos tem abordado a questao da familia brasileira, mas poucos tem se debrucado mais recentemente sobre a familia portuguesa no estrangeiro. Este texto analisa trajetorias e representacoes de mulheres oriundas de Portugal que estao vivendo em diferentes paises em decorrencia dos fluxos migratorios que de la sairam por motivos diversos. Neste estudo foram analisados relatos de mulheres estabelecidas no Canada e nos Estados Unidos - com base em dois trabalhos desenvolvidos por outros pesquisadores - e na Alemanha bem como no Brasil, colhidos pelos autores deste texto. A analise dos relatos orais mostrou que certos tracos sao comuns as mulheres que vivem nesses quatro paises, um sinal importante da forca da cultura portuguesa, enquanto outros revelam as especificidades dos locais em que as imigrantes e suas descendentes se integraram.
