Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Several studies have shown that hearing impairment had an impact on cognitive functioning. In this study, 24 adults with severe post lingual hearing loss completed Codex (Cognitive disorders examination, Belmin, 2004) and MoCA (Montreal cognitive assessment, Nasreddine, 2005) tests, both prior to and after cochlear implantation. Results show a significant improvement in cognitive abilities in the group that had pathological scores at the MoCA test prior to cochlear implantation. No correlations were found between cognitive scores and subject’s age, or duration of deafness. We argue that the MoCA test could be an interesting tool in observing the evolution of cognitive abilities in subjects with abnormal scores prior to implantation as well as assessing cognitive frailties in hearing impaired elderly subjects. This multidimensional approach could lead to a interdisciplinary intervention in the sensory-cognitive deprived subjects.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
