Abstract
Discussions about globalization are leading today to the need to examine national culture. This text looks at the insurmountable antagonism between the values of the geographical space of markets and the values of the geographical space of nations. It does this by focusing on the differences of national cultures in regard to their interference with the way firms have of spreading their governance practices throughout the world. The difficulty is isolating these elements in order to understand the relation to formal management tools, which have cultural connotations themselves, by looking at a proposal on the foundation of culture-organization relations through "ultimate references."
