À travers l'étude de l'expérience missionnaire en Martinique avant la Révolution, la jeune chercheuse Cécilia Élimort éclaire une dimension peu connue du fait colonial dans les Antilles françaises.Il s'agit d'un mémoire de master remanié et publié dans la collection guyanaise « Espaces outre-mer » de la maison Ibis Rouge Éditions.Bernard Gainot, qui a assuré la direction des recherches de Cécilia Élimort à l'université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, indique à juste titre dans sa préface que l'étude constitue un « jalon important » (p.14) dans la connaissance des sociétés coloniales antillaises.L'ouvrage se révèle en effet foisonnant et ouvre une multitude de pistes de réflexions.L'auteure offre non seulement une présentation institutionnelle de la présence ecclésiastique en Martinique, mais la resitue dans les dynamiques politiques, sociales et culturelles qui traversent l'empire français de la deuxième moitié du dix-huitième siècle.Cécilia Élimort, L'expérience missionnaire et le fait colonial en Martinique ...
