Abstract
Cet article rend compte des résultats d’un sondage ayant pour objectif d’explorer les positions éthiques de la population québécoise en matière de dopage sportif (approbation-désapprobation, réglementation ou punition souhaitées). Les résultats indiquent l’existence de deux tendances. D’un côté, on note un courant conservateur de la morale sportive qui, par principe, se prononce contre la levée de l’interdiction des produits qui ne sont pas nocifs pour la santé et contre les applications des découvertes génétiques au domaine sportif mais en faveur de sanctions plus sévères pour les fautifs. De l’autre côté, on constate un courant plus libéral ou « réformiste », d’accord pour autoriser les produits qui ne sont pas nocifs pour la santé, ouvert au « dopage génétique » et en faveur de sanctions minimales ou modérées. Ce courant éthique semble davantage pragmatique et souhaite d’un ajustement des valeurs sportives à celles des sociétés démocratiques contemporaines, notamment lorsqu’il est question de santé.
