Exposición involuntaria de mujeres embarazadas al plaguicida hexaclorociclohexano (HCH) en Chapala, México 2011-2012

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to explore in a population of pregnant women living on the banks of Lake Chapala, Jalisco Mexico, the exposure to organochlorine pesticides (HCH) and its isomers. We studied 49 women attending antenatal care in local health services. Aged 22.5 + 6.74 years old, whose main activity is housework 85%. Pesticide HCH and its isomers exposure in the study population demonstrate the signifi cant presence of organochlorine compounds in the sample subjects. HCH’s isomers were found in (n=34) 69.4%, with regard to the determination of each isomer, we found in isomer (n=6) 17.1%, (n=1) 2.9%, (n=6) 17.6%, (Lindane) (n=1) 2.9%. The presence of two isomers a (n=3) 8.8%, a (n=2) 5.9%, b (n=4) 11.8%. The presence of three isomers is in ab (n=5) 14.7%, ab (n=1) 2.9%, in the case of four isomers we found abd (n=5) 14.7%. The results of this study identifi ed an unusual pregnant women exposure to organochlorine pesticides and a potential health hazard in the maternal and child population. RESUMEN El proposito del estudio fue, explorar en una poblacion de mujeres embarazadas que residen en la ribera del lago de Chapala, la exposicion a pesticidas organoclorados (HCH) y sus isomeros. Se estudiaron 49 mujeres que acudieron a control prenatal en los servicios de salud locales. Con edad de 22.5 + 6.74 anos, cuya actividad principal son las labores del hogar 85%. La exposicion al plaguicida HCH y sus isomeros en la poblacion de estudio evidencian la presencia signifi cativa de compuestos organoclorados en los sujetos de la muestra. El HCH e isomeros se encontro en (n=34) 69.4%, el isomero , se determino en (n=6) 17.1%, (n=1) 2.9%, (n=6) 17.6% (n=1) 2.9%. La presencia de dos isomeros; el caso de a(n=3) 8.8%, a(n=2) 5.9%. b(n=4) 11.8%. La presencia de los tres isomeros, es el caso de; ab(n=5) 14.7%, ab(n=1) 2.9%, en el caso de cuatro isomeros; abd(n=5) 14.7%. Los resultados de este estudio identifi can una inusual exposicion de mujeres embarazadas a pesticidas organoclorados y un posible peligro para la salud en la poblacion materno-infantil.
