Abstract
Les secrets de la littrature yiddish sont parmi les mieux gards. dcouvrir le livre de Leib Rochman, et penser que sans l'entreprise ambitieuse de sa traductrice, Rachel Ertel, on ne l'aurait peut-tre jamais eu entre les mains, on ne sait s'il faut se rjouir que la littrature nous o re encore de telles surprises ou s'e rayer de tout ce qu'on ignore. Tout coup, le fait qu'il soit arriv jusqu' nous, alors qu'il aurait pu rester non lu, apparat comme un miracle. Le livre de Leib Rochman est important plusieurs gards : d'abord parce qu'il nous fait dcouvrir un grand crivain, dont rien n'avait encore t traduit en franais auparavant, mais surtout parce qu'il russit transmettre une exprience peu raconte, celle de l'existence du survivant du gnocide au lendemain de la guerre, dans cette priode transitionnelle floue alors que le monde n'a pas encore repris ses marques. Et important, enfin, parce que sa langue d'criture est le yiddish, et devient elle-mme l'un des thmes du livre, insparable de son personnage et de son histoire.
