Vaccins et communication : La convergence comme stratégie de création de valeur sociale

Abstract
Cet article a comme objectif principal de démontrer la pertinence d’un cadre analytique inspiré de la théorie de la valeur sociale de Tarde (1902/2006) afin d’étudier la stratégie de convergence déployée par les acteurs institutionnels et corporatifs autour de la résurgence de la vaccination comme politique de santé publique. En suivant l’approche de l’étude de cas, nous analysons trois moments clés du développement récent du vaccin : 1) l’introduction de Rotarix (pour la prévention de l’infection par rotavirus) ; 2) celle de Gardasil (pour prévenir l’infection au VPH) ; et 3) le recours à la vaccination dans le cadre de la pandémie de grippe H1N1. Cette étude à caractère exploratoire montre comment l’hypothèse de la convergence sert à rendre compte du rôle structurant de la communication de la vérité, l’utilité et la beauté (dans le sens de l’émotion) dans le façonnement des politiques publiques dans un contexte de gestion de crise et de nouveaux défis sanitaires.
