Mediennutzung erstreckt sich zunehmend auf Online-Medien, in denen sich u. a. der soziale Charakter der Kommunikation auf den Konsum auswirkt. Traditionellen Medien wird wiederum oftmals eine hohere Glaubwurdigkeit zugeschrieben. Anhand eines Experiments, in welchem lediglich die Quelle eines Nachrichtentextes modifiziert wurde, konnten die Auswirkungen auf das Konstrukt Glaubwurdigkeit und seine Bestandteile untersucht und quantifiziert werden. Eine Online-Umfrage zeigt zusatzlich, welche unterschiedlichen Eigenschaften online- und traditionellen Medien zugeschrieben werden.
