Abstract
Many young, educated Ethiopians are seeking opportunities outside the country, hence their designation as the exit generation. Together with a number of other important factors, this brain drain has implications for Ethiopia's future leadership. The analysis looks at the current leadership cadre and then investigates a number of trends that will impact the leadership situation up to the quarter century mark. It concludes with some predictions about the nature of Ethiopian leaders in 2025 based on two critical, albeit controversial, assumptions. The analysis is intended to provoke reactions.
