Abstract
Este estudo veriï¬ cou o impacto psicossocial causado pela dor, em portadores de disfunção temporomandibular (DTM). Foi realizado um estudo transversal com amostra de 11 pacientes, todos do sexo feminino, que buscaram atendimento ï¬ sioterapêutico especializado, submetidos a uma versão brasileira do Questionário McGill de Dor (Br-MPQ), que inclui questões especíï¬ cas sobre a qualidade de vida, como: 1) prejuízo social; 2) atividades da vida diária; 3) percepção do outro; 4) tolerância í dor; 5) sensação de estar doente; 6) sensação de utilidade; 7) satisfação com a vida. Os resultados mostram que a dor da DTM crônica causou algum grau de prejuízo no relacionamento familiar (90,91%), no trabalho (90,91%), no lazer (72,72%), nas atividades domiciliares (81,82%), no sono (72,72%) e no apetite/alimentação (100%). A dor crônica em portadores de DTM apresenta um impacto negativo na qualidade de vida desses pacientes. O questionário aplicado, embora não sendo especíï¬ co, avaliou adequadamente isso.
