Abstract
La vertebroplastia es una técnica de reforzamiento vertebral, hace parte de los procedimientos mínimamente invasivos aplicados a la columna vertebral. La utilización de este tipo de técnicas aumentará en los próximos años por el incremento en la esperanza de vida de la población mundial. Entre sus aplicaciones se encuentran: fracturas vertebrales osteoporóticas, metástasis vertebrales y hemangiomas. Se presenta una revisión general de la técnica y de los aspectos históricos.
