Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC; negative for estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors, and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) is associated with unfavorable prognosis, in part because of poor response to systemic therapies and radiotherapy as well as high rates of local regional recurrence (LRR; J Clin Oncol 2006; 24:5652 and J Clin Oncol 2008; 26:1419).
