Abstract
Kevin Kumashiro's book, Against Common Sense, is a book that all educators who care about interrupting norms, challenging oppressions, and questioning the way things are always done, shoud read. It is an accessible book for teachers on the front lines and is filled with practical suggestions for many different subjects. The book also offers a critique for faculties of education to consider, one which challenges the way anti-oppressive teaching is often an afterthought, not a priority, in teacher-preparation, based on the author's research of many US Universities. Ultimately, the book is a call for educators to challenge easy, common sense, solutions; it is a call to action.
