Abstract
An opinion is presented that the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver provide an opportunity for Australians to escape the long hot Australian summer, while also enjoying the skills of athletes. It is believed that the low-key, intimate setting of the Winter Games make the event a recreational one which is closer to nature than the Summer Olympics.
