Abstract
S tem govorom, tretjo izmed štirih znamenitih 'filipik' (Φιλιπικ̀ι λόγοι, lat. Orationes Philippicae), je Demosten nastopil na zasedanju ljudske skupščine leta 341. Tistega leta je tudi večini prej mlačnih Atencem postajalo jasno, da Filipu II. ne bo dovolj oblast nad severno Grčijo, ki si jo je bil pridobil deloma z vojsko, deloma s spletkarjenjem in podkupovanjem, temveč da si namerava podjarmiti celotno celinsko in otoško deželo. V govoru Demostenes opozarja, da Filip posredno in neposredno krši mirovno pogodbo, sklenjeno med njim in Atenami leta 346 (t. i. 'Filokratov mir'), graja neodločne člane atenske skupščine, ki še vedno preveč popuščajo Filipovim pristašem, in zahteva od njih, naj se čimprej pripravijo na odločilni spopad z Makedonci ter naj zanj med Grki pridobijo čimveč zaveznikov.
