Abstract

Electrical and acoustic measurement were performed at the rock physics laboratory of University \nof Alberta on sandstone samples at reservoir conditions to evaluate their geophysical properties. \nMore specifically, relationships between the mechanical and electrical properties and their change \nwith pore pressure were inverstigated. The main objective is to better understand the effects of \npore pressure increase on reservoirs during CO2 injection in geological sequestration projects. A \nprocedure was developped to simultaneously perform electrical and acoustic measurements in order \nto minimize experimental errors. More specifically, the acoustic and pressure appartus of University \nof Alberta was adapted to make the electrical measurements. \nResistivity as well as P and S waves velocity and their respective attenuation were measured on dry \nand brine saturated samples in the 0 to 40 MPa confining pressure range and in the 0 to 30 MPa pore \npressure range. A correlation is observed between the measured properties as well as with porosity \nand cementation factor which were modeled. Pore pressure seems to have a weaker effect on the \ntransport properties (resitivity, porosity, cementation factor, etc.) than on the seismic properties. \nTaken alone, the usefulness of these relations is therefore questionable. However, understanding the \nrelationship between these properties could help to determine the spatial variability of an unknown \nparameter given another known parameter.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
