Abstract
Cette recherche vise à identifier les croyances qui influencent la decision, pour un étudiant, de persévérer dans ses études. Selon la théorie du comportement planifié, les croyances comportementales, injonctives, descriptives et de contrôle joueraient un rôle central dans l’explication de la persévérance. Nous avons interrogé 203 étudiants inscrits en première année à l’université sur leurs croyances. Les principaux résultats montrent que les croyances comportementales les plus saillantes sont les croyances liées au plaisir de persévérer, à l’utilité de persévérer et à des dimensions plus personnelles. Les croyances injonctives et descriptives proviennent des parents, des frères et soeurs et des amis des étudiants. Enfin, les croyances de contrôle sont liées à l’individu, à son entourage et aux études. Beaucoup de ces croyances sont originales et inédites. Elles permettent de questionner les écrits de recherche sur les facteurs explicatifs de la persévérance, mais également de réfléchir à des pistes d’interventions.
