Abstract
This work reports on the growth and characterization of thin hybrid films as protective layers for stone surfaces. The films are composed of a hydrophobic component (Silicon aerogel) and a bactericidal nano-material constituent. The reports analyzes the properties of several series of nanostructured hybrid films: (a) graphene, (b) graphene doped TiO2 (G/TiO2), (c) silver nanoparticles, (d) silver nanoparticles doped TiO2 (Ag/TiO2), and (d) Fullerene. All chemical, morphological, and biological measurements indicate the formation of a smooth, transparent, highly hydrophobic film on the stone surface, which influence bacterial growth.
