Abstract
La région de Blezard et Hanmer, avec celle de Chelmsford, forment ce qu' on appelle la Vallée.Elles constituent une zone agricole située à une vingtaine de kilomètres au nord-ouest du centre de la ville de Sudbury.Ce sera l'un des terrains d' observation de cette étude, qui propose une réflexion sur le travail de journalier au tournant du siècle.Cette recherche portera sur les caractéristiques des journaliers dans trois domaines en particulier.Les trois types de journaliers qui seront observés sont : 1) le journalier minier, 2) le journalier-cheminot et 3) le journalier agricole.Nous nous demanderons si cette occupation ne fait que rassembler différents individus qui partagent accidentellement un sort commun pour former un groupe hétérogène.Les journaliers sont des ouvriers payés à la journée, qui font du travail manuel.Ces hommes sont aussi connus comme des travailleurs non qualifiés et nous examinerons pourquoi il en est ainsi.
