Abstract
Nous proposons une analyse performative du discernement comme un charisme particulier qui intègre le sujet croyant dans un projet de transformation via des techniques de décryptage du soi. La comparaison de données ethnographiques collectées auprès de trois courants différents (Renouveau charismatique québécois, pentecôtiste congolais et ashram montréalais) nous conduit à souligner le rôle des techniques de socialisation, de la communauté et de la hiérarchie dans l’encadrement et l’orientation de ce travail opéré sur le soi. L’exercice du don de discernement induit par conséquent un rapport de pouvoir qui s’articule autour de l’enjeu du savoir et de la reconnaissance. Si la notion de charisme s’enracine dans une épistémologie proprement chrétienne, nous la développons dans un cadre sociologique dont l’application permet de saisir des comportements religieux contemporains qui intègrent le projet de réalisation du soi à des structures de pouvoir admises.
