Abstract
Drought is nothing new to Oklahoma. However, much of the population has not experienced the typical drought conditions that Oklahoma is prone to. The beginning of a new drought cycle has kicked off a flurry of drilling for water for the municipalities in central Oklahoma. Much drilling for water is a hit or miss affair; however, in geologic formations such as the Quaternary alluvium of the North Canadian River surface geophysical techniques are now being used to locate municipal wells and evaluate leases more efficiently than random drilling.
