Abstract
Clinicians investigating infectious diseases or communicable diseases have a unique, worldwide, evidence-based resource at their disposal-GIDEON, The Global Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Network. GIDEON is the product of physician collaborators from the United States, Canada, and Israel. The GIDEON database features over 330 infectious diseases occurring in over 200 countries. In addition, over 1,000 microbial taxa and more than 300 antibacterial agents and vaccines are covered. This article reviews features of the four GIDEON modules-Diagnosis, Epidemiology, Therapy, and Microbiology.
