Abstract
Le déclin de la participation politique aux moments des élections ne doit pas être confondu avec le déclin de la participation politique des citoyens tout court. L’auteur estime dans ce sens que non seulement le diagnostic de légitimité ou d’illégitimité des systèmes électoraux doit être revisité, mais que la recherche devrait également tenir compte des formes multiples de la participation politique qui s’offrent aux citoyens. Enfin, pour appréhender la complexité croissante de l’engagement politique des citoyens et de leur rapport au politique, il est proposé de lier cette problématique à celle de la représentation politique, dans une acception élargie.
