Abstract
The sensitivity of the residual stress distribution to variations in several weld process parameters are computed for the dissimilar metal nozzle weld in the NRC/EPRI welding residual stress (WRS) program Phase II. The design parameters variations evaluated are; weld power ±20%, weld pass start positions at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees, delay times between weld passes of 0 and 3 minutes, temperature dependent yield stress and hardening modulus. The analyses are 3D nonlinear transient. The 3D residual stress results are compared to published measured data and published averaged FEM results which are mostly 2D axisymmetric analyses.
