Abstract
In Brief Clinicians' ability to be assertive when unsure or concerned about procedures, treatment modalities, or patients' symptoms is key in reducing risk and preventing sentinel events. In this article, the authors provide a framework for generic, voluntary assertiveness communication skills workshops that any educator can implement. The authors describe an assertiveness communication skills workshop developed to advance a patient safety culture.
