Abstract

This paper discusses a "framework" that has been developed and optimized for building Special Purpose construction Simulation tools (SPS). SPS are domain specific simulation programs that are useful in modeling and analysis of specific construction systems such as earth-moving, paving, and aggregate production. The framework discussed in this paper allows an experienced simulationist to build SPS tools which are easy for the construction engineers to use. The overall structure of the framework is reviewed and sample applications and implementations of SPS tools are presented. The presented tools illustrate the flexibility and effectiveness of this framework from both a developer and an end user's point of view.
