The reagent Fe(η 5 -C 5 H 4 SeSiMe 3 ) 2 has been used for the formation of the new nanoclusters [Cu 20 Se 6 (Se 2 fc) 4 (PR 2 R‘) 10 ] (R = Ph, R‘ = Et; R = R‘ = n Bu) and [Cu 40 Se 12 (Se 2 fc) 8 (PPh 3 ) 9 ], which consist of ferrocenyl-passivated surfaces on CuSe cores.
