Abstract
The purposes of this study were to (a) explore the factors that influence parents' experiences of 2 watching their children compete at junior tennis tournaments and (b) identify suggestions for 3 enhancing their experiences.Interviews were conducted with 40 parents of junior players in 4 Western Australia.Parents' experiences at tournaments appeared to be primarily influenced by 5 four factors: Their child's performance and behavior, sportspersonship, parent-parent 6 interactions, and the tournament context.Participants also provided three recommendations to 7 enhance their experiences: Educate and support players, educate and support parents, and 8 organizational changes.The identification of these factors, along with participants' suggested 9 changes, has a number of implications for parent education initiatives that may enhance 10 parenting in junior tennis in the future.
