Abstract
The solution to the Hamilton-Jacobi equation associated with the nonlinear H1 control problem is approximated using a Taylor series expansion. A recently developed analytical solution method is used and extended to the problem of controller state-order-reduction. The proposed controller synthesis method is applied to the satellite formation ying problem. The eects of using dierent orders of approximation in the plant and controller dynamics, as well as dierent reduced-state-order controller models, are studied in simulation.
