Abstract

Abstract The use of Vacuum Insulated Tubing (VIT) has been broadened to include a wide range of Thermally Assisted Heavy Oil production schemes. This paper shares completion designs and resultant data from a variety of commercialized projects utilizing VIT. The Production Schemes investigated are CSS, Steam Flood and SAGD. The aforementioned completions all have nuanced relationships to VIT due to differing temperature, pressures and heat loss analysis and all will offer insights into the overall efficiency, reliability and longevity of the cases under investigation. The data compiled will show heat loss and steam quality and how they relate to overall well integrity and life cycle costs of the well in question.
