Abstract
Le deuil est trop souvent considéré comme la seule réponse d’un individu au décès d’une personne proche. Il est appréhendé comme un processus plus ou moins long qui se laisse décrire par une série d’étapes, de phases ou de passages susceptibles de rendre la transition du deuil effective. Cet article invite à sortir de cette lecture égocentrée du deuil. Il s’intéresse, d’une part, à la façon dont le deuil est vécu au travail lorsqu’une personne reprend son activité professionnelle après le décès d’un proche et à la façon dont les travailleurs sociaux peuvent ou non se considérer en deuil face à la mort d’individus qu’ils accompagnent d’autre part. Cet article montre que le deuil est avant tout façonné par une succession de moments et de circonstances d’intensité émotionnelle et affective, variable selon les contextes sociaux et les interactions entre individus plus ou moins concernés par le décès de quelqu’un.
