Experimental and Numerical Evaluation of Liquid Injection Using Horizontal Trench System for Bioreactor Landfills
Bibliographic record
Abstract
A 0.85 m long x 0.30 m wide x 0.55 m high physical model was fabricated to validate Richards' equation based numerical model commonly used for designing liquid injection in subsurface horizontal trench. The trench was placed in uniformly graded Ottawa sand underlain with 0.038 m thick pea gravel drainage layer. The drainage layer and the sandy soil above were instrumented with pressure sensors, thermistors, and time domain reflectometry (TDR)-based water content sensors. Water was injected at a relatively constant rate in the horizontal trench and spatial and transient response of the hydraulic system was monitored using the sensors. The numerical model HYDRUS-2D was used to simulate the flow in the physical model. HYDRUS-2D was not able to accurately predict the recorded liquid pressures until the entrapped air escaped or dissolved in the injected water. Because HYDRUS-2D is a single phase model, it does not consider the pressurization of entrapped air which was present in the relatively permeable sand.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
