Abstract
Welcome. Dear Readers, to the first issue of Volume 25 of the journal! As I write this, we are well into the Year of the Monkey, spring is around the corner, and the windy but decreasingly cold days of March will soon give way to the warmer days of April, at least in the Northern Hemisphere: for those of you ‘down south’, summer is gradually giving way to autumn. For us all, however, it's a season of transition. But wherever you are, a very warm welcome from the Laser Therapy Editorial Team to the first issue of the 25th volume of our journal as we proudly reach our quarter century marked by this 25th volume, since the first issues appeared back in 1988! While we should always be looking forward, we must never forget to look back, and remember the lessons learned from our teachers and friends who are no longer with us. It's hard for me to believe that we lost our mentor and Poet Extraordinary, the late Professor Isaac Kaplan, some 4 years ago. One of his poetic gems, enshrined in our former Kaplan's Corner, was penned to mark the publication of Issue 1 of Volume 21 of the journal. I am sure, had he been with us today, he would have risen to the occasion and saluted our reaching the volume quarter century in verse. With nostalgia, here is what Prof Kaplan had to say about our journal before his untimely death later in the same year: ON ENTERING THE THIRD DECADE LASER THERAPY has entered its third decade, And its name as a medical journal has been made. To its editor in chief congratulations are due, For what he has managed to do. Of lasers in medicine and surgery, it covers all fields, And there is no limit to the information it yields. Anyone in the field who has something to say, To do so through this journal, there is no better way. The fact that it caters for clinical reports, As well as research ones of all sorts, Makes the journal one of its kind, And the best that laser personnel can find. As long as the societies it represents last, Its future will be as bright as its past So, its readers will continue to benefit by its existence While its contributors will be encouraged to show persistence. And so, to the editors we all appeal, Continue to produce the journal with the same zeal. Because, you can be proud of what you've achieved to date, And, for future issues we can hardly wait.
