Abstract
The honeycomb lattice has elicited great interest because of the presence of Dirac cones and linear dispersion. In the Kane-Mele model, the presence of spin-orbit coupling opens the possibility of interesting topological effects. The addition of Hubbard or Coulomb interactions allows the study of the interplay of strong correlation effects and topology.
