A cidadania pensada a partir da educação" "Citizenship thought from the education" A universidade como instituição desempenha uma função central no desenvolvimento social e econômico de qualquer país.Ela é um ambiente de proliferação dos mais diversos debates e pesquisas, que não mais do que pretendem melhorar as condições da população em uma prática constante da cidadania.Para além de seus muros, as melhores universidades são aquelas que pensam na formação não só de um bom profissional, mas de um bom cidadão que preze pelos seus direitos e deveres, sem nunca deixar de se questionar quanto a eles.Pensando nisso, a Revista de Cultura e Extensão da USP entrevistou o professor Adolpho José Melfi, docente titular sênior do Instituto de Energia e Ambiente (IEE--USP), membro da Academia Brasileira de Ciências e reitor da Universidade de 2001 a 2005.Permeando questões que envolvem o nosso sistema eleitoral, movimentos sociais dentro e fora da Universidade e os novos recursos (e perigos) da era digital, ele estreita a discussão acerca do conceito de cidadania colocando a educação num papel central para o seu exercício.
