Abstract
Radical changes are needed in the way hospitals are organised and run, the Royal College of Physicians’ Future Hospital Commission is likely to recommend when it reports next year. At a meeting at the college on 17 July to report progress, Tim Evans, academic vice president, said that work so far had identified that hospitals were under substantial stress, often providing a disjointed service to patients with a lack of compassion and continuity of care.
