Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

A surface seismic array was deployed in northwest Montana in 2012 to monitor microseismicity induced by hydraulic fracturing. Over 10,000 microseismic events were detected and located. We further investigated the source mechanisms of some of these events and the b-value of this dataset. A b-value of ~1.27 implies that this microseismicity is most likely a result of tectonic events. A large number of low-angle thrust mechanisms suggest reactivation of a regional thrust fault system possibly associated with the Rocky Mountain orogenic belt. We speculate that postglacial rebound in North America is the stress source to create such significant strain accumulation. Results suggest that the hydraulic fracturing in our study area has triggered the release of strain that was accumulated during the postglacial isostatic rebound.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
