The use of staminal features as generic characters in Vaccinieae are reviewed and assessed using 108 OTUs belonging to 97 taxa, scored for 17 characters and then subjected to a variety of phenetic analyses. Our results suggest that such staminal features quo genetic characters are highly overrated and that any generic revision contemplated for Vaccinieae ought to encompass a much wider selection of characters.
