Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

We present a theoretical analysis of an air-breathing PEM fuel cell that has a non-planar microstructure and we compare its performance to a fuel cell with the traditional planar architecture. Previous theoretical and experimental studies demonstrate that air-breathing fuel cells exhibit unique performance characteristics due to membrane dehydration. To enhance predictions of fuel cell performance during membrane dry-out, our model features a membrane conductivity correlation that is applicable for low humidity and a finite- thickness model of the cathode catalyst layer that resolves ion conduction. Our analysis predicts a volumetric power density for the non-planar architecture that is 100% greater than that for the planar arrangement. The non-planar fuel cell's higher power density results from the greater active area per unit volume and the humidity retention in the cathode's gas diffusion layer.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
