Control of Airfoil Wake Structure at Low Reynolds Numbers by Acoustic Excitation
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The effect of external acoustic excitations on the wake structure and performance of a NACA 0025 airfoil was studied experimentally. Wind tunnel experiments were carried out for three Reynolds numbers and three angles of attack. Hot-wire measurements, statistical analysis and complementary surface flow visualization were used. Evidence of flow separation and wake vortex shedding was obtained for most cases examined, and these phenomena were found to depend on Reynolds number and angle of attack. The results establish that external acoustic excitation at a particular frequency and appropriate amplitude suppresses or reduces the separation region and narrows the airfoil wake, i.e., produces an increase of the lift and/or decrease of the drag. The acoustic excitation also alters the vortex shedding characteristics, decreasing the vortex length scale and the coherency of the vortex structure.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
