Selon un modèle récent du trouble d'anxiété généralisée (TAG), l'intolérance à l'incertitude (Il)s'avère être la principale variable responsable des inquiétudes excessives (Dugas, Gagnon,Ladouceur & Freeston, 1998). Le but de cette étude est de vérifier l'impact de l'intolérance à l'incertitude sur les inquiétudes et ce, à partir d'événements quotidiennement vécus par les individus. Trente participants ont été soumis à une augmentation et une diminution de leur niveau d'intolérance à l'incertitude à une semaine d'intervalle. La manipulation a été effectuée à partir d'une séance de visualisation où le participant devait construire et imaginer une mise en situation.Les résultats démontrent qu'une augmentation du niveau d'intolérance à l'incertitude entraîne une augmentation des inquiétudes et, qu'au contraire, sa diminution fait diminuer les inquiétudes.Ces résultats confirment que l'intolérance à l'incertitude joue un rôle crucial au niveau de l'acquisition des inquiétudes et valident le modèle conceptuel récemment proposé (Dugas et al.,1998).
