StreszczenieBadanie endoskopowe zarówno górnego, jak i dolnego odcinka przewodu pokarmowego okazuje się nieocenione we współczesnej gastroenterologii.Jest jednak badaniem inwazyjnym, obarczonym wieloma powikłaniami.Niepożądanymi sytuacjami mającymi związek z endoskopią są komplikacje występujące jeszcze przed wykonaniem samej procedury, związane z przygotowaniem do niej, oraz pojawiające się podczas wykonywania badania czy nawet po jego zakończeniu.Mimo że u dzieci ryzyko wystąpienia poważnych powikłań badania endoskopowego, takich jak perforacja czy krwawienie, jest mniejsze niż u osób dorosłych, to należy jednak o nich pamiętać, ustalając wskazania do wykonania badania endoskopowego.Decyzja o wykonaniu badania endoskopowego jest uzasadniona jedynie wówczas, kiedy wynik badania będzie miał wpływ na dalsze postępowanie terapeutyczne lub diagnostyczne.Aby zwiększyć bezpieczeństwo pacjenta kwalifikowanego do badania endoskopowego, należy go monitorować zarówno w trakcie, jak i po zakończeniu procedury, aż do całkowitego wybudzenia, a przy wypisie na oddział lub do domu należy pielęgniarki i rodziców badanego dziecka uczulić na możliwość wystąpienia ewentualnych objawów, które powinny być niezwłocznie skonsultowane z lekarzem.
