Plusieurs études montrent que les taux de succès dans les formations à distance (FAD) ou les formations ouvertes et à distance (FOAD) sont de 20 à 45 %. Les stratégies mises en place par l’équipe de l’Université de Montréal, en collaboration avec ses partenaires que sont l’Institut International\nde l’UNESCO pour le Renforcement des Capacités en Afrique (IIRCA) et l’Agence universitaire de la francophonie, ont permis d’atteindre des taux élevés de diplômation –\nce qui implique la réussite de plusieurs cours – qui dépassent les 90 %. Ce texte, après une brève section sur l’importance\ndes technologies de l’information et de la communication (TIC) pour l’Afrique, adresse la question de l’efficacité des formations ouvertes et à distance (FOAD), avant d’en aborder les conditions d’efficacité et de leurs impacts sur la motivation et la persévérance des étudiants. L’objectif\ndevrait permettre de mieux comprendre les stratégies à mettre de l’avant pour favoriser la réussite des étudiants africains qui participent aux FOAD.
