Abstract
The Regional Treatment Centre High Intensity Sex Offender Treatment Program (RTCSOTP) was designed to be one of a series of sex offender treatment programs offered by the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) within the Ontario Region. Given the many deficits typically experienced by the clients attending the program, individual therapy was tailored to their individual needs. The program consists of two primary components. The first is the self-management component, which consists of three assignments: autobiography, offense chain, and self-management plan. In addition to these assignments, the component has two additional modules: cognitive distortions and emotions management. The second component is the social skills component of the program, which relies on role-plays in order to develop and practice the skills being discussed. Aside from the basic components, an inpatient-based program is best suited to the types of clients typically seen at the RTCSOTP.
