Les premiers critères diagnostiques précis du syndrome n’ont été publiés qu’en 1980 dans le DSM III, et en 1993 par l’OMS dans la CIM 10. Mais en réalité, les précurseurs du TDA/H sont nettement plus anciens. Déjà perçue comme une situation affligeante dans l’Antiquité, et comme franchement pathologique avec des références appuyées à la « folie », dès le XVII e siècle en France, on va en trouver des traces abondantes dans le corpus littéraire. Cet article l’illustrera par quelques exemples.
