Diverses stratégies de recomposition de réseaux de sociabilité et d’entraide ont été observées lors d’enquêtes portant sur les réseaux de sociabilité informelle des familles, sur la vie associative et sur les nouveaux moyens de communication. Dans tous les cas, on peut parler d’investissement d’un espace, physique ou social, où s’ancre cette « nouvelle » sociabilité. Mais en quoi au juste est-elle « nouvelle » ? En effet, à l’analyse, elle apparaît comme une réinterprétation moderne et même post-moderne de pratiques traditionnelles. Elle se développe à la faveur d’un rebrassage des sphères et des espaces publics et privés, ce qui n’est pas sans influencer les modalités du passage d’une dynamique de sociabilité privée à une dynamique communautaire. S’il s’agit d’un redéploiement des liens sociaux, celui-ci s’effectue selon une logique qui n’est ni nouvelle ni spécifique. Cependant, on ne peut réduire ces phénomènes à des mécanismes compensateurs.
