Les Pousadas Históricas, chaîne portugaise d’hôtels historiques, et les institutions muséales partagent de nombreuses caractéristiques communes liées à l’histoire et à la mémoire, mais également au tourisme et au divertissement. L’éclosion de ces nouvelles identités patrimoniales, similaires par plusieurs aspects aux musées, porte à une réévaluation de ces derniers. En s’appuyant sur la définition du musée de l’ICOM, Catherine Turgeon, dans une réflexion et une analyse critique, propose de faire de l’expérience sensible directe du visiteur l’un des premiers critères théoriques et pratiques de redéfinition de celui-ci.
