Abstract
Résumé Au cours de la première moitié du xix e siècle, les Vietnamiens ont été les instigateurs d’un recours grandissant aux médicaments occidentaux et en particulier aux produits pharmaceutiques européens. Cette augmentation de la consommation médicamenteuse dans le Viêt nam colonial ne semble pas avoir forcément signifié une confiance accrue dans le médecin occidental ni un rejet des médecines et des remèdes dits traditionnels. Nous nous penchons en conséquence sur l’articulation entre les phénomènes d’automédication et de pluralisme thérapeutique, les logiques qui les sous-tendent, et la reconfiguration de l’offre et de la demande en médicaments dans le Viêt Nam de l’entre-deux-guerres.
