Abstract
Le 15 juillet 1992 entrait en vigueur la Loi des associations religieuses et du culte public. Bien qu’elle comporte des vestiges du passé, elle représente pour le Mexique un pas en avant en matière de liberté religieuse. Dans un premier temps, l’auteur rappelle le statut de la religion du temps de la colonie espagnole qu’était le Mexique avant son indépendance au règne du président Salinas en 1988. Ce dernier annonça en 1991 une réforme constitutionnelle bien nécessaire en matière religieuse. Le contenu de cette nouvelle législation est ensuite traité en abordant ses trois grands thèmes : la liberté religieuse, les associations religieuses et les ministres de culte.
